With fall upon us, this is the perfect time to freshen your flower pots and beds. If you want minimal effort for maximum effect, buy some large planters for your front porch. You can buy an evergreen plant/bush and some trailing ivy and just change out the flowers in spring and fall. A little watering and fertilizer goes a long way to keep it fresh and pretty and welcome your guests.
If you want to add a little more color in your yard for fall and early spring, buy some annuals. There are so many to choose from, not just pansies. Pick a bed near your front door or by your mailbox and change out the flowers in spring and fall. Mushroom compost and Miracle Grow soil help the flowers grow bigger and give them just what they need to be happy. Some other fall choices other than pansies are snapdragons, mustard, ornamental cabbage, Mexican sage, rosemary, lemon cypress (love the yellow/green color), stonecrop sedum (yellow color, too) and regular sedum (has a pink tone). Mix your colors so they compliment each other.
Have fun with it and remember to water. Plants need water even in the winter!
